What is IP geolocation & how it works
IP geolocation estimates the real-world location of an IP address by looking it up in databases that map address ranges to countries, regions, cities and the networks that own them. It's how a lookup can tell you an address is in, say, Frankfurt on a particular ISP.
This finder resolves an IPv4 or IPv6 address to its country, city and coordinates, the owning ASN and organisation, plus regional details like time zone and currency. Accuracy is high at the country level but only approximate for city — geolocation is an estimate, not a precise fix on a device.

Yes. This tool accepts both IPv4 addresses (e.g. 8.8.8.8) and IPv6 addresses (e.g. 2001:4860:4860::8888) and returns the same location and network details for each.
An ASN (Autonomous System Number) identifies the network operator — an ISP, hosting provider or organisation — that owns and routes a block of IP addresses. It tells you who is responsible for the address.
Common causes are VPNs or proxies (which show the exit server’s location), mobile carrier-grade NAT, or an address recently reassigned to a new region before databases updated. The result reflects the database, not real-time GPS.
No. It only estimates the location of a network address, not an individual. It cannot pinpoint a person or a precise street address — it maps the IP to the region its network is registered in.
